17 Year old boy first victim of e-cigarettes DEBUNKED.

Rumours are circulating that a 17 year old boy has just become the first victim of e-cigarettes, after they gave him lung cancer.

The article claims a 17 year old boy called Frank Delio passed away from lung cancer making him the first victim of e-cigarettes.

E-cigarettes, or vapour cigarettes, are a relatively new device that aims to help people quit smoking. They provide a nicotine hit via an intake of vapour that is produced by liquid nicotine and a hot coil. Since their introduction there has been some controversy from some groups over their safety and effectiveness.

However despite this, the story regarding Frank Delio is certainly untrue. There have been no mainstream media reports regarding such an incident which would inevitably garner quite a lot of media attention. The only websites to report this story are dubious websites that print other outlandish and equally false reports.

Reports on this story, other than being printed on suspicious websites, also fail to mention how doctors attributed the boy’s death to lung cancer. Presumably a 17 year old would not have been smoking e-cigarettes for a prolonged period so attributing them as the cause of death without any apparent explanation as to why seems unusual.

To confirm the story is false the photo of a boy in a hospital bed (which these articles attribute to being Frank Delio) in reality has nothing to do with e-cigarettes at all. In fact it is a protestor in Syria who was injured when security forces allegedly fired nail bombs into a crowd.

Without any evidence to the contrary we must assume that this story is entirely fictional.
