DEATH IN LIVE SHOW!!! Facebook video spam

The onslaught of fake share-to-watch video spam continues to plague Facebook as the latest spam link purporting to show a death on US entertainment show America’s Got Talent goes viral.

Scams that request users share a webpage before they can watch a video have become extremely popular over the last year, and often bait visitors with videos that do not even exist.

Which is true for the latest viral spam to spread across Facebook that purports to show the unexpected death of a contestant on what appears to be the TV show America’s Got Talent.

Users who click the link are forced to share the webpage, and those who do managed to get redirected will be asked to complete intrusive surveys in what is referred to as survey scams.

All of this for a fake video. The image is just a still taken from an audition from America’s Got Talent which did not feature a death of a contestant. There have been no reported deaths on stage since the TV show began in 2006.

As usual the advice on offer is the same as with all these spam videos that spread across Facebook – NEVER share videos on your Facebook timeline in order to watch them, and never complete surveys or download files to your computer in order to watch videos either.
