Drinking household bleach cures Ebola

A rumour is spreading across social networking sites that urges readers to consume bleach In order to avoid getting the Ebola virus.

There has been no shortage of Ebola related rumours flying across cyberspace recently.

Ebola is now airborne, Ebola victims are rising from the dead, Ebola is being used to control the population (thanks Chris Brown for helping with that one) and even a rumour that claims Ebola isn’t real and is just an excuse to give people dangerous shots posing as vaccines.

But this latest rumour on the other hand, which claims readers should consume household bleach to avoid getting Ebola, is more likely just a joke, mocking all of this alarmist scaremongering.

But that hasn’t stopped people asking about it’s veracity. The message claims that over 7 billion people in Africa alone have died of Ebola (in reality it’s several thousand) and because bleach is “totally harmless” to humans (it’s extremely harmful to humans) it makes for a great way for humans to avoid or clear the Ebola virus (it doesn’t.)

A similar rumour circulated a number of years back that claimed drinking bleach would help you pass a drugs test. Unsurprisingly, it was just as false as this rumour.

Drinking household bleach causes burning, vomiting and extreme abdominal pains. It does not help with the Ebola virus.

Take away – don’t drink bleach.
