Fake video claims Mark Zuckerberg is closing Facebook

A video circulating the Internet appears to show Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announcing the closure of the Internet’s largest social network.

At least, it appears to show that to a few people. To the rest of us, the video has been clearly faked.

The video, in which Zuckerberg appears to refer to himself as “The Zuck Man”, can be seen below.

We expect most users who saw the video would have soon realised that it wasn’t real. Throughout the video, a mouth belonging to a third party has been digitally stitched over Zuckerberg’s face and a below-par impressionist attempts Zuckerberg’s talking style.

However the video appears to have been seen by many, and that may largely be down to the video circulating along with a message claiming that Facebook is introducing a charge to its users (which we discuss here. Short story – it’s fake too.)

So we have a message claiming Facebook will charge its users attached to a fake video claiming Facebook is closing its doors. And for some bizarre reason, Facebook users have still been circulating this utter nonsense in their thousands.

For those that watched until the end of the three plus minute video, a disclaimer asserting the video is satire appears at the end along with the credits, with the filmmaker named listed as Andrew Oleck.
