Did FBI seize over 3000 penises from morgue employee’s home? Fact check

A fake story spreading online claims the FBI seized over 3,000 penises during a raid at a morgue employee’s home.

The story was originally published on the website WorldNewsDailyReport.com, and it reads in part –

FBI agents made an astonishing discovery this morning while executing a search warrant at the residence of a Houston mortician: 3,178 embalmed human penises.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation suspected 54-year old Dave Murray, an employee of the Harris County Morgue, of being implicated in an organ trafficking network.
Investigating several reports of missing organs and body parts, dozens of agents raided his residence this morning, hoping to find evidence of his involvement in the crimes.

But, as is usually the case with WorldNewsDailyReport.com, all is not as it seems. In reality, WorldNewsDailyReport.com is a fake news site that specialises in publishing fake articles pertaining to bizarre crimes (that never really happened.) The site also typically steals random mugshots from the Internet and claims the mugshot depicts the criminal outlined in their spoof article.

The articles on the website have absolutely no truth to them whatsoever, but often fool legitimate media outlets into resharing their articles. Even in this case we’ve seen a number of journalists retweeting this fake story. ThatsFake.com describes WorldNewsDailyReport.com as fake news.

World News Daily Report has a disclaimer on their website that reads in part –

WNDR assumes however all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely a miracle.

Thus the site is just another example of a fake news “fauxtire” site, and we don’t recommend sharing this story as true.
