Hocus Pocus the Witch is Back fake poster spreading online

A fake movie poster advertising Hocus Pocus 2 the Witch is Back is spreading online.

Apparently billed as a sequel to the 1993 Disney Classic Hocus Pocus, the poster features the three supernatural protagonists of the original movie in front of the backdrop of city lights at night.

Sprawled across the poster, ‘HOCUS POCUS 2 THE WITCH IS BACK’.

The movie poster has been shared a number of times by users and pages during the build up to Halloween, and that has been the way since early 2015 when this poster seemed to have first appeared online.

The poster, however, is fake. It’s also not the first poster to promote this non-existent movie, as you can see below, another poster that was spreading in 2014.

Over the years there has been no shortage of speculation over a sequel to Hocus Pocus, and the original cast have been asked the question many times during various interviews, typically resulting in vague, non-committal speculation.

Additionally in 2014, rumours began spreading amongst gossip sites that a sequel called “Rise of the Elderwitch” was in production but would contain none of the original cast. The rumours failed to come to anything tangible.

Regardless of the rumours, Facebook pages, movie posters and constant barrage of social media hoaxes, there has not been any real news on a sequel to Hocus Pocus actually happening.

Given Hollywood’s obsession with remakes and “reimaginings”, it is perhaps only a matter of time before some title bearing the Hocus Pocus name will come into fruition. However, at the moment there does not appear to be any plans in the making, so that time may still be some way away yet.
