Is “Do You Want To Play With My Balls?” a real children’s book? Fact Check

Several high profile Facebook pages have shared a video of someone reading from a book titled Do You Want To Play With My Balls? that appears to be packed with flagrant sexual innuendo, yet according to the narrator, the book is marketed towards children.

The video has provoked many angry comments from social media users complaining that the book should not be given to children. Social media pages including LADbible claimed it is an “actual children’s book”. See video below

But is the book real?

The answer is yes. However, it isn’t really a children’s book, and despite the illustrations, it isn’t marketed towards children. At least not really. In reality it’s a parody joke book aimed more towards adults than it is children. In the Amazon product description is the following –

Go ahead, read it to the kids! They’ll love it, but won’t have a clue as to why you’re turning blue with laughter…
ABOUT THE BOOK In May of 2015 a video was released of a young woman reading a copy of Do You Want To Play With My Balls?, a hilarious, children’s book parody for adults. In one day her Facebook video received over 1 million views, and over 50 million by months end. This prompted an Internet explosion that not only put Do You Want To Play With My Balls? on the map, but on the entire globe.

The book started as a Kickstarter crowd funded project by the Cifaldi Brothers, who in the Kickstarter description wrote –

A few years ago four kind and slightly demented fellows (that’s us!) got together and created a book called Do You Want To Play With My Balls?, a children’s book for adults.

As such, the book is clearly self-aware, and despite claims made by some social media users, it isn’t a covert or clandestine method of exposing children to sexual content.

In reality, this book is only one from a number of parody books that upon a cursory glance appear to be aimed at children but upon a closer inspection are clearly geared more towards adults.
