‘Love Wins Fag’ cake lawsuit dropped. “All a hoax”.

A homosexual pastor from Texas who sued bakery company Whole Foods Market for writing a gay slur on his cake has dropped his lawsuit, admitting it was all a hoax.

Jordan Brown, a pastor at the Church of Open Doors non-denomination church in Texas, claimed Whole Foods Market wrote “Love Wins Fag” on his cake instead of his requested order of just “Love Wins”.

Brown hired a lawyer and sued Whole Foods Market for intentionally inflicting emotional distress. However the bakery store in Austin vigorously denied the claims made by Brown, instead asserting that at the time of purchase the cake had only the words “Love Wins” written on it, which was exactly what Brown had requested.

Whole Foods Market also filed a counterclaim against Brown for defamation. The case has received plenty of attention on the Internet, particularly on social media.

And it seems the truth has finally prevailed. Brown dropped his lawsuit and publicly apologised for his actions, admitting that it was a hoax, and that Whole Foods Market had done nothing wrong.

I want to apologize to Whole Foods and its team members for questioning the company’s commitment to its values, and especially the bakery associate who I understand was put in a terrible position because of my actions.”

I apologize to the LGBT community for diverting attention from real issues. I also want to apologize to my partner, my family, my church family, and my attorney.

Why Brown falsely accused an innocent bakery company (who, from all accounts, support LGBTQ rights) is so far unknown. What we do know is that silly, pointless hoaxes like this detract from a very serious array of discussions about the rights of the LGBTQ community in the United States.
