Did Michele Bachmann say Las Vegas victims should have been home during Sabbath? Fact Check

An online graphic is spreading across the Internet that claims former US House of Representatives member Michele Bachmann said that victims of the Las Vegas shooting would have been safe had they been observing the Sabbath at home.

The graphic claims Bachmann said the following while appearing on an episode of Fox and Friends

I’M NOT BLAMING THE VICTIMS OF THE LAS VEGAS INCIDENT, BUT IF THEY WERE OBSERVING THE SABBATH LIKE MARCUS AND ME AND AT HOME READING THEIR BIBLES, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SAFE.
I’M NOT BLAMING THE VICTIMS, BUT IT IS THEIR FAULT
MICHELE BACHMANN
FOX AND FRIENDS
OCTOBER 4, 2017.

The quote isn’t real. From what we can determine, Michele Bachmann did not appear on Fox and Friends during October 4th 2017 (the image was taken from an appearance a number of years earlier.)

What’s more, had she uttered such a newsworthy remark, it would naturally garner much mainstream media attention. However no media have reported on the quote, largely because it has been completely fabricated.

Remember, just because you happen upon a quote attributed to a specific person on a nice looking graphic, it doesn’t mean it’s real.
