Only viewable to Facebook Premium users? It’s a joke!

How do I become a Facebook Premium user then? This might have been the question on many a Facebook user’s lips this week, but those users didn’t get the joke.

It was in response to a flurry of photos and comments appearing on Facebook that read “This photo is only viewable by FacebookPremium viewers”. See below.

But worry not, there is no photo or comment that is hidden from your view. You’re not missing out on anything. It’s just a joke, a joke that was apparently lost on many users who apparently failed to get the punch line. In reality the photo is just that line of text you read, and that same text is available to anyone who sees it. There are no premium users who can see a photo or a comment that you cannot.

On a more serious note however, be on the lookout for scams that claim you can upgrade your account to Premium or Gold. There is no such thing, and these scams are most likely attempting to extort some information from you.
