Satirical page claims Take That playing in Frome’s Cheese & Grain venue

A satirical Facebook page has tricked a number of residents of the town of Frome in Somerset, England, into believing that pop group Take That will be performing in a local music venue.

The Facebook page F.S News claimed via a Facebook post that the pop group Take That will be performing a secret gig in local venue The Cheese & Grain. The post read in part –

TAKE THAT TO PLAY CHEESE AND GRAIN.
You heard that right people this afternoon we were tipped off that the one and only TAKE THAT will be playing a secret,pre-world tour warm up gig at the Cheese and Grain in Frome.
Our top secret contact told us that Take That’s chubby cheeked song writer Gary Barlow is very good friends with the Food Fighters front man Dave Growl who chose the cheese and grain for a secret gig earlier in the year. Mr Growl was so impressed with Frome that when Gary asked him if he knew of anywhere cool enough to host a secret gig Dave didn’t hesitate to recommend the Cheese and Grain.

The post may have initially seen believable to many since The Cheese & Grain venue really did see The Foo Fighters return from a hiatus to play a secret set at the Frome based locale in 2016. Many residents certainly took the post at face value since it soon accumulated hundreds of excited comments from local residents confirming they wanted tickets.

However claims that Take That are to follow suit appear to be fake. Upon a closer look, the only source for this news is the Facebook page that made the announcement F.S. News. However that is a self-confessed satirical newspaper that does not post serious content. The page description reads –

As Frome’s best read satirical newspaper it has firmly established itself at the heart of the local community, serving Frome town since the dawn of the dinosaurs.

Not only that but the announcement is riddled with spelling errors, such as The Food Fighters and Dave Growl.

Remember people, just because you see it online, it doesn’t mean it’s true!
