Do sites like DollarCell.com allow you to make money from home?

We were asked this week by one of our readers about a site called DollarCell.com that – according to their homepage – claimed you could earn a guaranteed $1500 just from working part time from your home.

Work-from-home scams are rife, looking to exploit vulnerable and desperate victims looking to make extra cash online, and earning hundreds a day sat in front of your computer screen does sound very tempting indeed.

To be clear – websites that purport you can make this amount of money doing “easy, online tasks” are lying to you, and DollarCell is one such website (if you want to see what websites are good for making money, read the bottom part of this article.) In fact after a little digging, it soon became clear that this website was one of a network of identical sites all claiming the exact same thing.

The scam works like this – you sign up to work online. However, after registering to become a member the victim soon discovers that there is actually only one task available to do; spam the Internet.

DollarCell, and its expanding network of companion websites (that include pocketfunds.online, payhite.com and ourjob.online) want you to post links to their website everywhere you can, and claim they’ll pay you $10 for each unique visitor you send to them. To be blunt, making money online doesn’t work like that, and if you do wind up spamming your referral link across the Internet, most websites will remove it (you are, after all, spamming.)

The links that do remain (be it on a poorly maintained blog or a money making forum) are unlikely to ever be clicked, and if they are, you are guaranteed you won’t be paid for the traffic you create.

It is likely that these sites exist to garner email addresses and names that can be sold to marketing companies, and it is also possible that the sites can later try and steal your PayPal information too under the guise of trying to pay you. We discuss these types of sites in more details in our blog post here.

Sorry, but you can’t make lots of money this way. If the idea of getting paid to do online tasks is appealing, the good news is there are websites that allow you to do this. The difference is that these sites won’t promise you a full time income or the prospect of hundreds of dollars a day to draw you in, because that is simply an unrealistic claim.

However if you’re looking to make a dent in some household bills or even save enough to get the Christmas shopping done, we recommend SwagBucks who are probably the leading website when it comes to rewards-per-tasks.

They pay you for things like giving your opinion, doing surveys and watching videos, as well as a whole host of other tasks, where you can earn SwagBucks which can be turned into money or giftcards. Interested? You can sign up to SwagBucks here. And yes, it’s free.
