Man Responsible For Olympic Ring Mishap Found Dead In Sochi Rumour - Internet/Facebook Rumour

Rumours are circulating that the man responsible for the recent technical glitch during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics was found dead in his hotel room of an apparent self-inflicting stab wound.

However the rumours are entirely false, and are the result of the contents from a satirical website being spread, either intentionally or mistakenly, as true information.

The satirical article identified the engineer as Boris Avdeyev.

As far as we have been able to ascertain, the original story comes from The Daily Currant, a satirical website that posts mediocre satirical articles that often get mistakenly identified as true information and spread primarily through social media.

None of the stores printed on the site are accurate. The site openly admits that the stories printed on its domain are entirely fictional.

Whilst a technical glitch did occur when one of the giant snowflake lights failed to turn into an Olympic ring, no one has been openly held responsible and there have been no reports of deaths as a result.
