Baby with cuts on face photo - Facebook Rumour

16 Apr 2014 - Article No: 1838. Filed under: Facebook Scams | Facebook Rumour

A baby with cuts on his face is spreading across Facebook under the assertion that liking or sharing the photo will result in donations from Facebook for the child, who is suffering from cancer.

As many of our regular readers will already know, this is just the latest in a long string of heartless hoaxes by scammers with the aim of accumulating Likes, Shares and Page followers in a scam known as Like-Farming. Read more about Like-Farming here.

Facebook, nor anyone else, will donate money or offer medical assistance based on how viral an image goes on Facebook.

The child in the photo is named Xiao Bao, who was sadly attacked by his mother with a pair of scissors. The story was well reported by mainstream media in 2013 and has nothing to do with cancer as purported in the photo. The photo of Xiao Bao was stolen by spammers from the linked article from The Mirror.

Of course exploiting this child`s photo to garner fans for Like-Farming Facebook pages is morally reprehensible and Facebook users are advised simply to report these types of photos to Facebook.
