Jockey accidentally euthanized after breaking leg at Kentucky Derby link - Facebook Rumour

Links to an article are spreading across Facebook that claim a jockey was accidentally injected with a drug used to euthanize horses after an accident at the Kentucky Derby.

However the article, published on a website known as, is actually a totally fake story, possibly some rather weak attempt at satire.

There are no reports of such an event occurring from legitimate media outlets, and stories or links that claim this did happen all lead back to the same website.

Websites publishing weak satirical content that is [possibly intentionally] mistaken as real news appears to be some kind of trending marketing technique that is managing to launch a number of offending websites into the viral stratosphere, making it even more important that users take what they read on the Internet with a pinch of salt before hitting the share button.
