Does video show poll worker tearing up Trump ballots? Fact Check

A video circulating widely on social media purports to show a poll worker ripping up ballots marked for President Donald Trump.

FALSE

In the aftermath of accusations by President Trump that the 2020 US presidential election was rigged against him, a number of unsubstantiated videos and photos have circulated on social media purporting to offer proof of voter fraud, including this one below.

However, after analysis, many of these videos and photos can be debunked as fakes, often by those politically motivated to promote the voter fraud narrative or often as pranks from social media creators looking to garner engagement.

The video above, that shows a man who identifies himself as a poll worker responsible for separating ballots from envelopes and then proceeding to throw away Trump ballots, appears to be the latter.

In this case, the video was created by a TikTok creator with the handle BigChoppaDoe, whose real name is Dale Harrison. In a series of social media posts on Facebook, Harrison admitted that the video was fake and that he was wearing his Amazon uniform while filming (Amazon had nothing to do with collection or counting of ballots.)

Sooo I did this video in my Amazon outfit cause y’all know I’m always joking! And it’s getting crazyyyy views! They Ass finding me on every app!!!! So when do I move to Hollywood??? Hahahah 🤣

…that’s my Amazon outfit! But it’s getting me views!

i really don’t hate Trump! He actually gave me a check!!! But yea I’m just letting them eatttttt it up!!!!

Given the contentious election, it is likely we will see no shortage of videos and other content purports to offer proof of voter fraud. While all instances should of course be investigated, please be aware that just because it appears on the Internet, it doesn’t mean it’s true. We imagine there will be no shortage of people either deliberately circulating misinformation or opportunists looking to profit from it in some way.

We rank this video purporting to show a ballot worker tearing up Trump votes as false.
