Playboy model could face jail time for social media post

Now we know our own readers – as social media savvy as you all are – will not need to be told this… but you really can’t go posting nude photos of other people onto social media.

This is something that 2015 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers has discovered. In July she “accidentally” posted to her public Snapchat Story page a nude photo of an elderly woman in the gym getting changed, along with the caption “If I Can’t Unsee This Then You Can’t Either.

For those non-Snapchat users, your Story page contains photos or videos you’ve taken in the last 24 hours. When 24 hours goes by, they get deleted. All your followers can potentially see stuff you post onto your Story page.

The photo (below) quickly went viral, and Mathers soon apologised.

The apology however was not enough to get Mathers fired from her reoccurring radio spot, as well as banned from all LA Fitness outlets, the gym where the photo was taken.

And Mathers woes are not over. According to recent reports, the woman has now been identified, and she’s angry, and now the LA city attorney’s office are deciding whether to prosecute, leading to a potential jail sentence of 6 months for Mathers.

Losing your job, hounded on social media, banned from your gym and facing jail time. This is what can happen when you’re careless (and nasty!) on social media.

But as we said at the start, we don’t need to tell any of our own readers that. You already know.
