Tech firms including Facebook, Twitter and Google have agreed to do more to ensure that extremist posts get taken down faster.
In September, UK prime minister Theresa May said technology companies must go “further and faster” in removing extremist content. She added that she wanted offending content removed within two hours.
And tech giants have agreed to those conditions in a two-day meeting between the G7 nations this week.

Facebook especially have been previously criticised for being unable to remove extremist content including posts related to promoting jihad in a timely manner.
This is the first time that tech companies have taken part in such G7 talks and demonstrates how important removing such posts has become to the governments of G7 nations. The Internet is a growing and emerging tool used by all sorts of extremist groups to radicalise and subsequently recruit vulnerable members of society.
