Was cop that arrested Malia Obama found dead? Fact check

A story circulating the Internet claims that a police officer who arrested Malia Obama for possession of marijuana has been found dead.

The article – posted on the website ourlandofthefree.com – has the headline “BREAKING: Cop who Arrested Malia Obama Found Dead”

The article reads in part –

Recently, former First Daughter Malia Obama was busted by police buying a “seller’s quantity” of marijuana from a Chicago drug dealer. Now, her arresting officer has been found dead.
The arrest was made by police Sgt. Marvin Smythe, a 19-year veteran of the Chicago police force, who witnessed Malia entering the residence of Samuel B. Johnson – a man released from prison by her father during his mass clmency for drug dealers.

[sic]

Of course the article is fake. In fact, not only is this article an example of fake news, but it also references another fake news article posted by the same site a week earlier – the claim that Malia Obama was arrested for drug possession. No, she wasn’t.

Since we already know that Malia Obama wasn’t arrested for drug possession, then naturally the article about the cop who arrested her being killed is also going to be fake. There is no Sgt. Marvin Smythe, and the details in the story have simply been made up.

The site that originally posted both stores – ourlandofthefree.com – has been designated as a fake news site by our partner site thatsfake.com. It has a disclaimer on its webpages that reads in part – “ Therefore we make no guarantee that what you read here is true. In fact, it most definitely is not.

As such, the story is bogus and should not be circulated as true.
