Does this photo show a bloodied female Trump supporter?

An image of a woman with various face injuries is spreading across social media with a caption claiming that she is a Trump supporter who was recently injured by liberal protesters.

The image – which has spread prolifically through Twitter and Facebook, most often via the social media outlets of various right-wing blogs and websites – has had several captions attributed to it. One popular caption added by conservative website Conservative Nation reads –

Here’s what happened to female Trump supporter when she met ‘peaceful’ and ‘tolerant’ liberals.

However the image does not depict a Trump supporter injured at a protest. In fact it shows Australian actress Samara Weaving – perhaps best known for her 4 year stint in Aussie soap Home and Away – undergoing a make-up test for comedy horror TV series Ash vs Evil Dead. Needless to say, the apparent injuries on Samara’s face are just the result of special effects makeup.

The image first appeared online by make-up artist Hannah Wilson, the artist who applied the make-up to the Australian actress.

The image was quickly shot down by the producer of the Ash vs Evil Dead producer Bruce Campbell, who told Conservative Nation to “check their facts”.

Despite the image being debunked, Conservative Nation at the time of writing have not removed the tweet.
