Escaped convict posts Facebook Mexico selfies. Gets arrested.
A less than bright escaped convict named Nick Grove managed to get himself arrested by authorities a year after escaping jail by posting a series of selfies of his new life in Mexico on Facebook.
We often find ourselves writing about the latest criminal social media gaffes, but this latest case really stands out.
Nick Grove, 28, escaped prison only days after being sent there for firearms charges. He managed to scale a barbed wire fence leaving jail officials a little red faced, and upon gaining his freedom, Grove sharply hot-footed it to the apparent safety of Mexico.
Now whilst most people would think that a new life in Mexico should probably consist of not broadcasting your whereabouts to the entire Internet, Grove had other ideas.

He posted a stream of selfies showing himself tanned and otherwise loving life on his new Facebook account. Grove even posted his location of Cancun on the account, just in case the authorities had any trouble tracking him down.
They didn’t, and he was soon arrested by Mexican authorities and is awaiting extradition back to the United States.
Grove joins a notorious collection of ‘cognitively challenged’ criminals who have all made bizarre gaffes on Facebook including the wanted man who taunted police on Facebook and got arrested, and the chap who posted his plans to rob a supermarket on his Facebook account that was used as evidence when he was convicted.
Whilst the rest of us should be reminded that what we post on our social media accounts can come back and haunt us, criminals and convicts are more than welcome to continue ignoring that advice.
