Fake photo claims to show teacher in ceiling spying on students taking test

A photo is going viral on social media – specifically Twitter – claiming to show a teacher hiding in the ceiling spying on her students who are taking a test.

Posted by the Twitter user “josephxmorales”, the picture was posted along with the following tweet –

My teacher left the room during a test so we all started sharing answers. Then I look up and she was staring right at me

The tweet instantly became a viral sensation, at the time of writing being retweeted more than 220,000 times and liked nearly half a million times in the space of 24 hours. However, many were sceptical, questioning why a student taking a test would be allowed a phone in the first place.

A little digging later and the tweet appears to be fake. This is largely down to the photo existing elsewhere on the Internet for a number of months before it was uploaded by josephxmorales. A reverse image search reveals that in June 2017, the photo was uploaded to Twitter by another user named Onur.

According to Buzzfeed, who claimed to have interviewed the uploader Joseph Longoria, he posted the image and caption because he wanted to make an Internet meme.

I just had it along with the rest of my pictures… I was deleting them because ya know, storage almost full, iPhone probs. So I decided to make it into a meme.

As to the true identity to the woman and what she was doing in the ceiling, that’s currently a mystery.
