Hoax – a leaked email shows Clinton using term “sand n*gger”?

A screen-dump allegedly depicting an email leaked by WikiLeaks sent by Hillary Clinton and containing the term “sand n*gger” is spreading across the Internet.

The email is genuine. However, Clinton did not use the term “sand n*gger” herself, since the text in question is an opinion piece penned by a third party that Clinton had simply forwarded to others.

The article was actually written by a prolific Israeli author, David Grossman. Though Grossman originally penned the article in Hebrew, not in English, it was later translated (see here.) Additionally, given the context in which the otherwise offensive term is used, it does not appear that Grossman was using the term to describe Muslims or Arabs.

The whole piece describes the moving plight of a man – Omar Abu Jariban – left to die on the side of the road in Israel, and the paragraph in which the term is used is giving context on how the police officers responsible for getting rid of him must have looked upon him. According to Grossman, the officers considered him a nuisance.

Again, according to Grossman, Omar Abu Jariban, was ultimately dumped onto the side of a deserted road, where his lifeless body was discovered days later.

So while the screendump does indeed show an email sent by the 2016 presidential candidate, she did not use the term herself. It was a part of an article written by David Grossman.
