Is the Forrest Gump 2 Forever Jenny trailer real? Fact Check

A video is spreading on social media that claims to show the trailer for the 2019 release for Forrest Gump 2 Forever Jenny.

The 2 minute video has been shared widely on social media sites like Facebook and claims to show the sequel to the hugely popular 1994 movie Forrest Gump.

However the trailer is, of course, entirely fake. While many viewers correctly deduced that the video was a fan made trailer, it seems that many others have been caught out.

The video appears to be been originally uploaded by the user VJ4rawr2 who specialises in creating parody trailers. That user notes in the video description –

Yes, this is a parody trailer. That means it’s fake. Forrest Gump was one of the most memorable films of all time. There was talk of a sequel in the early 2000’s but that never panned out.

However the video has been copied by others and shared on social media, without the creators disclaimer that the trailer was a parody, leading many to believe it to be genuine, despite some obvious clues that it’s fake.

As is the case with many fake sequel trailers we see online, the trailer consists of voiceovers and scenes from the original movie as well as scenes from other movies, especially ones starring the same cast as the original, in this case Tom Hanks.

This particular fake trailer contains scenes from A Hologram for The King, Inferno and at least one scene from – oddly enough – Titanic. The creator has also used special effects to intertwine many of these difference scenes.

There is currently no official news regarding a potential sequel for Forrest Gump. This trailer isn’t real.
