Man sued for saving woman from being run over? Another fake story amplified by AI
A news story that claims a man who saved a woman from being run over is being sued for sexual assault is spreading virally across social media, despite the story being entirely fabricated. And again, this story has been amplified by AI chatbots (namely X’s Grok) that falsely claim the story is genuine.
In late October 2025, a video apparently depicting a typical media news segment began spreading virally on social media that allegedly showed the moment 32 year old Daniel Reed saved Jessica Moore from an oncoming car, only to be subsequently sued for inappropriate touching by the woman he saved. Perhaps inevitably the “news segment” began gaining traction online from angry social media users expressing their incredulity, and was widely amplified by many social media “influencers” eager to give their opinions on the topic. To make matters worse, even X’s AI chatbot Grok labelled the story as true – not the first time Grok has inserted itself into fake news stories in this manner.
The story isn’t real, and the video isn’t from any news channel. The video of “Daniel” saving “Jessica” was actually taken from a 2020 incident showing the moment 25 year old Chris Allen saved a woman from an oncoming car in Cincinnati. The aftermath of that genuine incident was far more mundane than its fake counterpart – according to Chris, the woman thanked him and they went their separate ways. No lawsuits or any legal action taken against the hero of the story. A news report from Inside Edition about the 2020 incident can be seen below.
In reality, “Good Samaritan” laws apply in all US states that protect people from certain offences (such as ones spanning from ‘inappropriate touching’) if that person is clearly acting to prevent harm or to save a person’s life. While such laws vary by US state, the actions in this video would almost certainly under them.
As for the rest of our fake news report about “Daniel” and “Jessica”, not only does it take video footage of the 2020 Cincinnati incident, it splices it together with various footage of cars, lawyers and police officers all taken from entirely separate and unconnected events, and stitches them together with a fake (likely-AI generated) narration.

While we couldn’t ascertain the original source of the fake story, we do know that X’s Grok AI chatbot is once again the villain here, since the bot started telling social media users that the story was true.

And, incredibly, Grok continued to deny it had done so even when we pointed it to its own post where it said as much.

Eventually, after we posted even more examples of Grok peddling the misinformation, we finally managed to get it to admit it was indeed incorrect, when the AI bot conceded that it was drawing its information from – in its own words – “viral reports lacking primary verification”.

Once again, the whole incident is another huge warning sign when it comes to getting your news from social media platforms and the integrated AI bots and legions of “influencers” that come with them. While many have turned away from mainstream media outlets, it was the noticeable absence of this story being covered by any of them which initially led us down the path to concluding the story was likely fake, a conclusion we were able to later confirm.
As for Grok, the AI bot can consider itself lightly scolded.
