Does video show President Trump startled by someone shouting “Allah Akbar”? – Fact Check

A video is circulating Facebook that shows Donald Trump giving a speech only for it to be interrupted after someone shouts “Allah Akbur”, resulting in startling Trump and the Secret Service who jumping onto the stage.

The video can be seen in the embedded video below.

While the video does depict a genuine security scare when then-candidate Donald Trump was giving a speech in Ohio on March 2016 only for it to be interrupted by protestor Thomas DiMassimo, the audio – namely the “Allah Akbar” – appears to have been digitally added to the video.

New reports and video surfacing at the time made no mention to DiMassimo shouting anything in particular as he rushed the stage and no news footage or amateur camera footage of the intrusion bears witness to the same audio. Perhaps one of the closest videos with audio taken to the intrusion is here.

While there were many subsequent rumours and conspiracies that DiMassimo was connected to ISIS floating across social media, these proved unfounded, and DiMassimo was later released.

In this case, this appears to be nothing more than a doctored video.
