Voice actor tricks scammer tricked into spelling out SCAMMER

Here’s how a voice actor tricked a scammer with a fake autobot impression into spelling out the word SCAMMER.

We do enjoy a spot of scam-baiting. That’s the pastime of wasting a scammer’s time by pretending to be a would-be victim in order to keep a scammer occupied for as long as possible. After all, if a scammer is being baited, they’re not out there scamming genuine victims. And of course, while wasting their time, plenty of people have some fun with them at the same time.

This applies to YouTuber IRLrosie, a voice actor who spends much of her time pranking a variety of different scammers.

Here she is pranking a scammer who indulges in check cashing fraud. This is a popular and versatile scam where the objective is to trick a victim into cashing a fake check, and then wiring money to the scammer, under the belief that the check more than covers the amount they are wiring. The check then bounces, and the victim is left on the hook for the money they wired to the scammer.

Crooks uses a variety of ploys to try and trick victims into doing this. One such method is the fake job scam. This is when the scammer finds a victim looking for a job on a job hunting website. The crook pretends to hire the victims for some type of work-from-home job, sends them a check to cash, and then tells them to wire money to rent out some starter equipment. However the wired money is just sent to the scammers, who pocket it, and like we stated above, the check bounces, leaving the victim out of pocket.

As you can see, in the video, IRLrosie tricks the crook into spelling out the word SCAMMER, as well as pressing a bunch of buttons in a fake automated telephone recording.

Remember never to accept any job without meeting your employers face to face, and never cash checks sent from people you meet over the Internet.
