Win 7 night holiday to Las Vegas for sharing a Facebook post? Fact Check
A post on Facebook claims users can win a 7 night holiday to Las Vegas for commenting and sharing a post.

The post was made from the Facebook page “Las Vegas Tours” and asks users to comment and share a post before a certain date to win a 7 night holiday in a Las Vegas hotel suite. An example of the post can be seen below.
We’re going to celebrate our grand opening by doing something special for you. We’re going to be rewarding someone who has shared then commented by Aug 15th with a 7 night holiday for 2 people in this beautiful Suite. You will have a year to use the holiday. No need to worry about flights & travel, it’s all included.
The post is fake and is another example of Facebook like-farming using fake competitions or giveaways as bait to lure users into engaging with a post.
Such fake competition posts have the usual red flags that are present, including…
– The post being made by a page only a few weeks old (which can be seen using the Page Transparency feature.) It was created on July 18th 2019, only two weeks ago from the time of writing.
– As such the page has made very few posts. In fact the only post of substance is the one offering the free holiday competition.

– The post was made from a page that is not verified, highlighting the fact that it is not an official page belonging to any legitimate tour group from Las Vegas.
– Additionally the page lacks any contact details of a company. There is no phone number or address.
– The post requests users share it on their timeline, which is against Facebook’s terms of service regarding promotions (the page admins cannot determine if an entrant has shared a post if the entrant has their privacy settings set to friends only.)
The above are all tell-tale sign that this is not a real competition. It is likely at some point the post will be edited to lure users to an external website that harvests contact information. Alternatively those who have engaged with the post may be contacted by scammers through Facebook.
Always try and avoid these scams that claim you can win expensive prizes just by sharing a post on Facebook.
