Variations of the Facebook “following me” hoax
In September 2017, a viral hoax began to circulate rapidly that claimed a Facebook user could discover which Facebook users were following them by typing the words “following me” into their Block Users section.
The message was a complete hoax. However due to the extremely viral nature of the hoax, a number of different variants were spawned as various Facebook users reworded the warnings to suit their own needs. All the variations are also hoaxes.

FB family and friends please do the following:
Go to your account settings
Go to Block
Go to Block Users
Type in “Following Me” without the quotes
A list of names will appear
You can now block them from here
Surprisingly there are people following my FB page with names I cannot even pronounce or spell.
Very scary!! However they are all blocked now.
I had to go to each individual name to block them separately.
Copy and paste to pass it on.

Just learned something new. If you go to account settings, blocking, block users, and type in “following me”, without the quotes, you might be surprised just who is following you. I had a bunch of accounts from random middle eastern countries who were following me. They are blocked now. I had to block them 1 at a time, I don’t think there is a way to do it all at once. Check your followers and tell your friends and family to check theirs as well!! PLEASE CHECK THIS.. I WAS SHOCKED…

This is Legit! I had these people following me and had no idea who they were!

Just learned something new from one of my friends
..if you go to Account Settings,> Blocking, >Block Users, and type in “following me” without the quotation marks in the window, you might be surprised who is following you.
I just blocked 9 accounts from random people, several from Middle Eastern and Asian countries that were following me.
You have to block them one at a time so it takes a few minutes, you can hit the back button.
Check your followers and tell your friends and family to check theirs as well.

Remember that these are all variants of the same hoax, and have been circulating prolificially across Facebook during September 2017. We recommend dismissing all of these warnings and let your friends know that it is a hoax.
