Death hoax claims Dwayne Johnson died in stunt for Fast and Furious

Rumours claim that actor Dwayne Johnson – better known as The Rock – was killed when filming a stunt for an upcoming Fast and Furious movie.

A number of blogs and websites are carrying headlines like – “Dwayne..’The Rock’. Johnson Dies at 45 After a Terrible Stunt with Double Failed attempt. TODAY, August, 2017”

The rumours are false. Dwayne Johnson has not been killed filming a stunt. This is just the latest in the long string of celebrity death hoaxes that have previously been targeted at various other celebs including Morgan Freeman, Jeff Goldblum and Eddie Murphy.

If there was any lingering doubt that The Rock may have passed away, this can be finally dismissed by looking at his Twitter feed that is still posting well after these silly rumours started to spread.

In fact, this isn’t the first time rumours of Johnson’s death have spread online – in 2014, a number of fake news websites claimed the wrestler-turned-actor had died filming a stunt (again) for Fast and Furious 7

Additionally, watch out for scammers who may want to take advantage of this fake news and lure you to malicious webpages that claim to have video footage of the accident. These sites aim to trick you into installing malware disguised as “video updates” or “plugins”.

Remember, just because social media tells you someone has died, it doesn’t mean it’s true. If you hear “breaking news” online, make sure you verify it first with a legitimate news outlet. Please don’t share it online without first verifying its authenticity.
