Are Disney World giving away 150 goody bags on Facebook? No.

Deja-Vu hits the spam world on Facebook once again, as another Disney World ticket scam has managed to go viral across the social networking site.

The scam, claiming to give away 150 goody bags each containing 5 free tickets to Disney World, is urging Facebook users to like, share and comment on a post in order to enter. A later edited version of the post claims the post is offering the chance to win a Disney World Vacation for up to 5 people with a $5,000 give-away

However, like with previous – near identical – scams, this is just another classic case of like-farming that attempts to dishonestly garner followers to a specific page. You can read more about like-farming and the different variants it takes here.

Not only that, but the post implores users to visit a webpage that asks them to download software in order to continue. This could potentially be malware, or spammy software that makes money for the scammer every time they dupe someone into downloading it. Either way there is no point in downloading it, since there are no free Disney good bags on offer here.

The spam post reads –

Attention we’re giving you the chance to win a Disney World Vacation for up to 5 people with a $5,000 give-away.

Like in this case, the post was edited once it managed to go viral to include the spammy web link.

DO NOT click on these types of links. You WILL spread them to your friends if you follow the instructions and put them at risk as well, and these competitions that implore you to share them and visit external webpages unrelated to Disney (or whatever company is purporting to offer the prize) are always going to be fraudulent.
