Can you actually get paid to surf the Internet?
If you’ve seen a website or opportunity telling you that you can make tons of money just from surfing the Internet from the comfort of your own home, then you’re not alone.
But what is the real deal behind these opportunities. Is it really possible? As you’re favourite nonsense-debunkers online, we’ve taken a closer look.
Needless to say, making good money just from surfing the Web is a tantalising offer. However, if a website is telling you to ditch your day job because you’re about to get rich just by surfing websites from home, then sorry, we’re going to be the bearer of bad news. These opportunities are fake. They don’t exist.
Basically, they’re scams.
These schemes usually disguise themselves as “work-from-home opportunities” and often claim you can make something like $37 per hour, just for things like surfing the web, posting links or “data entry”.
To reiterate, these are scams. They’re not real. Of course if it really were that simple, everyone would be doing it.
So while you cannot get rich just by surfing the Internet, you can still make some money doing it. The key is to stick to reputable websites that are realistic in their goals, instead of relying on hype and the unrealistic prospect of getting rich.
How do these “get paid to surf” sites work?
There are legitimate websites out there that will reward you for stuff like surfing the Internet, doing web searches, completing survey and even playing games!
This is because companies want to know how people use the Internet, what they search for, how they’d interact with new games and what they think of them, and information about their online habits. This is for marketing purposes. This information can be valuable, and many companies are willing to pay money to get it.
So this is where rewards websites come in. These sites act as the middle man between these companies and people like you. Rewards websites allow its users to complete any number of activities belonging to various companies looking for information, and the rewards websites will pay or reward you for the activities you complete.

Now, as we mentioned above, these rewards programs aren’t going to make you rich, so any site that claims you can make more money than you would in your day job are almost certainly lying to you.
