Did Morgan Freeman call President Trump a “bonafide sack of ****”? Fact Check

Rumours online claim that actor Morgan Freeman called President Trump a “bonafide sack of shit” after the president’s apparent silence following the Jacksonville shooting.

The rumours began after a August 26th tweet was posted from a verified Twitter account named Morgan J. Freeman can be seen below.


Could you imagine @realDonaldTrump being SILENT on #Jacksonville murders if the shooter was non-white or an immigrant? Our President is a bonafide sack of shit.

However, the tweet did not come from the Shawshank Redemption and Bruce Almighty movie star, and the mix up seems to have started from two people simply having the same name.

The tweet above is real, and it genuinely did from a verified Twitter account, but that account does not belong to Morgan Freeman the actor, rather Morgan J. Freeman (note the J) the TV producer. The small ‘About’ section on the Twitter account specifically states the account is “not the actor”.

It seems Morgan J. Freeman’s tweets are frequently misattributed and mistakenly believed to have come from Morgan Freeman the actor, likely because the account is “blue tick” verified.

The actor Morgan Freeman does not have a presence on Twitter at the time of writing.
