Does photo show Landen Hoffmann in hospital next to mother – Fact Check

A photo of a boy in hospital next to his mother is spreading on social media along with the claim that the photo shows Landen Hoffmann, who was thrown off the balcony of Mall of America. Other posts claim that Landen has since passed away.

FALSE

An image (that we’ve redacted) can be seen below.

Little Landon, the boy thrown off the 3 floor at Mall of America and his Mother… Keep praying!

However both claims are false. The photo does not show Landen Hoffmann and the latest updates from his family state the boy is doing well.

The image of the boy and his mother above is actually Hunter Barker from Texas, who contracted bacterial pneumonia in 2019.

Additionally, the latest updates posted on Landen’s GoFundMe page suggest the boy is doing very well as he recovers in hospital. A media article posted from the page details some of his progress.

The family of Landen are aware of the misattributed photo spreading on social media and addressed it on their GoFundMe page

There is also a photo circulating around of a mother in a surgical mask next to a boy in a hospital bed. This is not a picture of Landen or his mother. We will not be releasing any photos during the recovery process. The family is still seeking as much privacy as possible

At the time of writing, Landen’s GoFundMe page has raised almost a million dollars to aid in his recovery. A man has been charged for his attempted murder.

Be on the lookout for like-farming pages using this misattributed photo to try and garner likes and shares for their Facebook pages.
