EasyJet Airways tickets for sharing Facebook post? It’s spam.

You won’t win free EasyJet Airways tickets for sharing a post on Facebook

A link spreading across Facebook claiming to give away free EasyJet Airways tickets for those that share a post and visit a link to “claim your prize” is a scam.

One example of this scam (there are several) can be seen below.

easyjet

1. Share this photo and Type the number 20 below.
2. Visit: http://chaceeforvacations.net/ to claim your trip.

As is typical with like-farming Facebook pages (pages that deceive people into sharing posts and following their page) this is just a scam with no free tickets really on offer. The free EasyJet Airways tickets are just used as bait to lure people into complying with the instructions on the post.

These types of like-farming scams are prolific, targeted hundreds of other brands, and often accrue hundreds of thousands of shares in only a few hours. However those that visit the links will find they have to participate in dozens of spammy surveys that will harvest their personal information and target them with spam.

Like-farming pages are usually easy to spot. The pages purporting to give away free EasyJet Airways tickets have clearly nothing to do with the official EasyJet Airways brand since the pages lack Facebook’s blue verification tick denoting an official Facebook page.

Also the page is brand new, with no other posts. And the post implores readers to share the post onto their own timelines, which is against Facebook’s terms of service.
