Scam message claims typing in xxsam2018tvxx wins a Samsung TV
A message is spreading across social media that claims to offer a chance for readers to win a 65″ smart TV if they enter xxsam2018tvxx into Google and open a new account with Australian streaming service Stan.
An example of the message spreading across social media is below –
Hi Everyone! ✌ A few days ago there was an advertisement on TV where you could win a FREE 65′ Samsung SMART TV when you open a free STAN account! You just need to answer 4 questions correctly! 🔥 🔥 🔥
It turned out that all you need to do is simply enter the code “xxsam2018tvxx” in Google and click on the first link in the results, read this article to learn more. It’s very easy! 🙂 Yesterday, a courier brought me a package which contained the new 65′ Samsung SMART TV! Better hurry up, as the promotion ends on June 7!
The message is a scam, and we don’t recommend completing the instructions in the message. It appears the message is designed to lure users to dubious “streaming” services.
After entering “xxsam2018tvxx” into Google, the first result took us to the website samsungtvnz.info, which automatically directed to another website named jagerjack.com (neither of these websites are affiliated with Stan, the legitimate Australian streaming service.)
On that website we were asked to complete 4 questions. Regardless of the answers we picked, the website claimed we were eligible to win a prize and invited us to “open a free account”. However, after clicking that message, visitors are forwarded to dubious and suspicious “music and video streaming” services, many of which have had numerous reports made against them online of launching unauthorised payments and making misleading claims. Again, none of them are affiliated with legitimate service Stan.

What dubious “streaming” website you land on seems to be random, but all the websites are identical other than their name. Examples include Muzic247.com, PlayBombs.com, HoltGamez.com, GoPlayz.com, KickPlays.com, NewMediaz.com, GamePopz.com and PlayMofo.com. All these sites are aesthetically identical and all ask for your credit card information. To reiterate, most of these sites have had negative feedback placed against them online, and we don’t recommend signing up for them.
It is doubtful that anyone signing up for these suspicious websites will be entered into any prize giveaway as initially stated in the circulating message above.
It appears the message is simply designed to lure readers to a certain website which attempts to lure visitors into signing up for scam streaming services. As usual, we only recommend signing up for competitions and giveaways executed on the official websites or social media channels of the brands involved.
