Our regular readers will be well aware that this is just a typical like-farming page using fake giveaways to lure people into liking. We’ve previously discussed a fake Dodge Charger Facebook scam here.

Like-farming pages are Facebook pages that use deceptive tactics to lure people into liking a Facebook page. In this case a fake giveaway is used. In reality there are no Dodge Charger cars available to win. No one who shares the post and likes the page will anything.

Spammers use like-farming pages to attract followers which they can then target at a later date with spam or serious scams. Often this means linking to spammy marketing webpages that are designed to harvest a visitor’s personal information and make them the target for spam solicitation.

It is easy to spot like-farming scams like this. For one, the people behind the page are unknown. There is no contact information and the page is clearly not officially affiliated with any brand since there is no blue verification tick at the page title.

Additionally brands and legitimate promotions will not ask you to share a Facebook post to your timeline since this is against Facebook’s terms of service regarding promotions.

All the other posts on the Facebook page are also asking users to like the Facebook page.

If a Facebook page seems more concerned with imploring you to like their page and share their content as opposed to publishing material, then you’re probably looking at a like-farming page.
